 Welcome to the CMI Website! Coates Ministries Inc. (CMI) is Randy, Becky, Nichole and Joel Coates serving Jesus and the beautiful people of Kenya with the aim of expanding the Kingdom of God in East Africa. It has always been the mission of CMI to do ministry on the periphery—to take the Gospel to those who haven’t heard, to extend mercy to those in greatest need—to live the mandate of the great commission one individual at a time. Working in close partnership with national leaders since 1997, CMI has grown from just one missionary family into a large organization of twelve churches spread across remote areas of Kenya in East Africa. 
How you can help:
Several of our churches are now entirely self-sustaining and support for the Coates family has been strong and consistent since its inception. At the same time financial demands of this growing work have increased exponentially. CMI needs more resources to responsibly sustain this growth:
  1. Please keep us in your prayers.
  2. Consider joining our ministry team as a regular monthly supporter.
  3. We have some great projects that we need to tackle and we would love to have you, your church or your organization partner with us. If you are interested email us or write.

Update on Kenya by Jerry & Rita




I plan to be up in Turkana April 16th to 23rd with the whole family. Still not certain if Becky will make that journey right now.

Prayer requests

Join us in the Spiritual work of this ministry. Pray for us and along with us regarding the following issues:

  • For workers to move into the ripe harvest field to share Christ and make disciples
  • The expansion of the Gospel among the unreached peoples of Kenya. There are currently 19 such tribes and hundreds of unreached villages.
  • Pray for the poor and suffering. Ask God for an end to corrupt systems, a stronger economy, and relief from AIDs and malaria. Pray for expansion of education to all Kenya’s children.
  • Pray with CMI to achieve our goal of planting a church in each of the 70 unreached villages in Northern Turkana.
  • And for the Coates family: Pray for wisdom, faith, vision, passion, provision, laughter, friendship, health, insight, creativity and sleep. Ask God to assist Joel and Nichole in their studies. Intercede for Randy and Becky’s marriage.
  • Pray for our pastors: their morale, wisdom, resources, and Spiritual anointing.
